Bed and Dine
The participants of the Archiprix 2012 were invited to participate in a specially organized idea competition – Nomand Village. The assignment consisted of designing units that can be used to make vacant buildings or vacant sites usable for (temporary) residence.
The “Bed and Dine” plan aims to bring city dwellers and city nomads closer together by using vacant sites in the city center for temporary residence by city nomads. They can store a camp with of recycled caravans, beach huts and caravans. “Bed en Dine” stays close to the idea of freedom of thought and also offers the most room for initiative of the user himself.
With his design, Zonderland questions the competition itself by asking aloud whether it is really necessary to make a new design for a unit, while such units (caravan, tent) have been tested for a long time and are still very successful.
